PROPHET 5 SPECIALIST

klosmon
Located in the northern California bay area.
Service for many older analog synthesizers -- particularly Sequential Circuits (Prophet 5 rev 1, 2 and 3, Prophet 600, Pro-One, SixTrak, MultiTrak), Korg MonoPoly, Oberheim 2Voice, 4Voice, OB8, ARP Odyssey; service for some other synths is avilable (contact me for info). Calibration, repair, ROM upgrades, MIDI installation, oscillator tuning, key contact cleaning, power supply repair, keyboard bushing replacement, etc.
Please read this before shipping synthesizers.
Due to the unreliabilty of shipping companies, I can not be responsible for loss or damage to synthesizers that are shipped for service, or that are shipped back to the customer. All damage & loss claims are solely the responsibility of the customer. If you are uncomfortable with this, by all means DO NOT ship your synth for repair -- you're better off seeking local tech support.
Rates:
Bench time/labor: $45/hour
Parts: cost + 10%
EPRROM Programming: $5 each
Shipping: actual cost*
*Shipping is via Fedex Ground (the least expensive, relatively reliable method I've found). Insurance is mandatory; synth will be returned in the same box & packaging as it was received.
Synths will be photographed & tested upon receipt to document original condtion. Afterwards you will be contacted via email with an estimate of repair time, procedure & cost; no work will be done without your permission. Estimates are in good faith; if actual repairs exceed the estimate, you will be contacted for approval.
Any parts needing replacement will be replaced with equal or better parts; ICs needing replacement will be installed in sockets. Faulty EPROMs that can be reprogrammed will be charged $5; otherwise you will be charged for the programming and the cost of the replacement chip.
RECOMMENDED MAINTAINENCE
Every synth should receive the following:
--battery check & replacment, if needed.
--cleaning of key contacts
--cleaning of pots & switches
--replacement of power supply capacitors and regulators.
--clean out dust, cat hair, food, etc.
--calibration and testing of all functions.
Recommended Maintainence charge: $100-$175
(for example, a Pro-One would be $100; a Prophet 5 would be $150)
I've owned & serviced Sequential Circuits synthesizers since the early eighties; my approach is before all else, do no harm. I treat these devices & my customers with the respect they deserve.
